Welcome Back Hotwheels!

Welcome back! The Hotwheels 2014-2015 season has offically begun. I hope that this season is going to be as great as the last season. We are planning on having about a game each month and two practices as well. Our first practice is coming up on September 6th from 10-12 at the church we usually have them at! As far as games are concerned, we do not have any set for the month of September and I figure this is probably best so that we can use this oppourtunity to catch up and prepare for the upcoming games this season. We still do not currently have a venue yet but I am in the process of working the contract out with Hoggard High school again this season and having a few games out at the Miracle Field too. However if any of you have any suggestions of other possible places to play please let me know. Also if any of you have an idea of possible opponents to play during the season let me know as well. I look forward to a great season with you guys and lets recruit some new teammates to become a part of the team.

Way to go Will

Congrats to our own Will Rhodes #69 for partcipating in the 2014 Powerhockey Cup 2014 in St. Paul Minnesoda. Will played alongside the Carolina Fury against teams from across the US as well as across the border up in Canada. Will had no difficulties playing with the Fury and  did a very nice job playing defense throughout the entire tournment. Will represented the Hotwheels well out there and I could not be more proud of him. Good job will and we look forward to another amazing season with you and for many years to come.

GO WILL #69

Miracles In Motion 2014

Thank you to all of the Hotwheels who participated in the 1k/5k at the Miracle Field on Sunday Afternoon! I know for all who attended this event that it was a great time and a great oppurtuinty to show the community how involed the Hotwheels are in the Wilmington area. Even though this event was not manditory for the whole team to attend, in the future I hope to have more of the team partcipitace in something other than a game. The Hotwheels are a Team and as a team it is our duty to participate in activities in the community to promote our team and to show how the Hotwheels can give back. So just think about that the next time we have an event with a chance to participate. I would like to applaud the participation of Mike Love and WIll Rhodes in the race on Sunday! Good Job Guys!

Anyways here is a video that was made after the run so check it out!

Great Game Hotwheels

Good job guys on our first game of the 2014 Season! I was really impressed by how everone did out there for our first time playing outside under the lights! I know we did not win the game but its not always about the number on the scoreboard, sure its great to have the winning score but what really matters is if you had fun and learned something from it. I think that this loss was important for us to have becuase I believe that it shows us that we are really not invincible from all of the opponents even with all of the advantages that we have. My hope is that this will teach you guys and motiviate us all to practice a little bit more and take the practice drills a little more seriously! Coach Brendan and Coach Chirs both spend a lot of time volunteering each week to help us learn some of the skills that they have learned over their hockey careers and I believe that we do not give them as much credit as they deserve. Anyways good game guys, I hope you all had a great time at the game and I will see you all at the next practice which is on November 2nd at 10 am at First Presbeterian Church!

Our team has been set up on an automatic TEXT Reminder system called Remind 101. Please call 1-336-645-3544 and text the message @hotwh to sign up. This will let you know when we have practice, when things change, who is bringing food…etc. Very easy to subscribe and then just receive the updates automatically on your cell phone. We can see who subscribes, so all team members need to do so ASAP.

Here is the story of the Coach of the Carolina Fury (Josh Cranfil) and the story about how he has overcame his disability. I though that this wwould be good for you all to see that anything is possible and a disability should not limit you. Anyways check it out and I look forward to seeing you all at practice tomorrow at 10am.
